dengue - the enemy within our homes

Even in this small hole, the female mosquito enters this open box, (the resident thinks is closed) lay eggs, there are born hundreds of new mosquitoes.

Examples of open dumps that potentially are breeding grounds of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

Everyone has heard about dengue, already know the damage it causes to health and to know how to fight it. And why this disease is still making many victims?

The answer is very simple: people leave the enemy live in its very common casas.É the Brazilian think that the government is the one to do it all. Clearly the government has a great responsibility to take care of the health population.

Do educational campaigns, produce and distribute medicines and equipment (buy when you can not produce in Brazil), investing in scientific research, hire servers to meet the demands of the population in all cities, that is yes, function and responsibility of the government, both in the municipal, state and federal levels.

Taking care of individual health, is the exclusive task of every citizen, in relation to dengue, a large part of the population does not do its part, which is not to let the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, living in their homes.

In my experience having worked in Combat Program Dengue in Mossoro-RN Hall, many residents are hoping that every two months the Endemic Disease Agent spend in their homes and put the larvicide in open water reservoirs (many call up poison or product), while they themselves could and should eliminate the breeding, or the impossibility of total elimination, to see that the mosquito do not proliferate in their homes.

Lack of awareness in the fight against dengue is not exclusive to Mossoro, but throughout Brazil. Fortunately in some Brazilian cities, municipalities, through the Department of Health Surveillance, composed of ethical, competent and responsible managers are giving satisfactory answers to this situation. Dengue is a controllable disease when not fight effectively.

While the population is not aware that is the protagonist in the fight against dengue and the public can not change their strategies, which for more than forty years is not working, the mosquito Aedes aegypti will continue in winning, and living within our homes.
